Spring Trends 2014

Spring Trends 2014

Spring Trends 2014 by closetfashionfix featuring shoes

I thought this winter would never end! But, without totally jinxing it, I think it's safe to say that spring has finally sprung.  Time to pack away the sweaters. Box up your boots. Clean your coats and store them in the closet.  Bring on the flirty dresses, sandals and bright colors because this spring's trends are ones to get excited about!

With so many great styles that came down the runway this season, it was tough to pick my favorites.  In considering the top trends for my readers, I think about which ones will stand the test of time. And, of course, which ones may be lurking in your closet already.

Metallic Accents
This high shine trend was popular from head to toe on runways.  A way to make metallics work for you is to use them in an outfit in small doses. A shoe, bag, or accessory is a safe way to bring on the glitz without looking over-the-top.

Ladylike Looks
Big skirts, nipped in waists, boxy tops- this style is all about accentuating your femininity in a modern way.  Pair a floaty skirt with a graphic-tee or blouse.  The key to this look is keeping your top-half covered and letting the figure-flattering shapes do the talking.  Tea and midi-length skirts highlight the ankles, making them a great choice for all figures.

More than just your Easter floral frock, this print is blooming in new ways this season.  Mix it up and pair a floral print with stripes or wear your blooms from head to toe. This season's blooms are big and bold, let them be the statement in your outfit.

Athletic Influence
Get ready to wear your sneakers beyond a workout.  Better yet, invest in a pair of tennis shoes that will marry comfort and style- no gym membership necessary. Athletic influence is everywhere from bomber jackets and slouchy trousers to mesh inserts and embellished sweatshirts.  The key to making this style work for you without looking like you're living out of a gym bag is all in how you pair these pieces with the rest of your outfit.  Mix any athletic piece with a dressier look to juxtapose this style.  I promise, you'll love the comfort of running shoes with a dress or a sweatshirt atop your pencil skirt.

Black & White (or just White)
Worn together, this is a classic color combination that will always stand the test of time.  Try a black and white print this season if you are looking for an update.  Or search in your closet to find these colors in a top and a bottom.  Add a colorful accessory in red or yellow, but stick to one.  Too many colors will take over the simplicity of this look.

On another classic note, this is the season to try an all white look.  White pants are prominent, as are LWD's (little white dresses).  The trouser look will go great with your metallic accents and the LWD will pair perfectly with your fashion sneakers.  See? You're all set!
