A History Lesson with Halston Heritage

As I get older and have quiet a bit of shopping experience under my belt, I have come to appreciate the experience of shopping just as much as the outcome of the shopping trip.  This was especially true on my most recent trip to a store that I didn't even know existed right here in Troy, Michigan.  Halston.  Does the name sound familiar?  It may because its namesake comes from the "creator of luxury American fashion", Roy Halston Frowick, who's friends and clients included Andy Warhol, Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor, and Anjelica Houston.
"Founded in the 1960s, the HALSTON label took the fashion industry by storm. Known for his innovation in millinery, Halston used his signature materials of jersey, cashmere, and suede to reinvent the jumpsuit, the shirtdress, and the classic caftan, permanently leaving his mark on fashion." - www.halston.com

Upon entering the store, it is clear that there is more to the design than just the beautiful clothes.  The iconic 'H' can be found in the tables and displays throughout the store.  The bars that the clothes hang on are representative of the barre that ballerinas use for dance exercises.  The shelving is reminiscent of the stairs in Halston's New York apartment.  And the orchid flower is present throughout the store, adorning the clothing and the physical space.  Before I had even taken notice of the clothing, I was already in awe of the sheer history present within the walls of this store!

But, of course, the clothes are what have kept this iconic label alive all of these years, so it was time to learn about the Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear line.  Halston is known for their evening wear, and many shoppers only enter the store when they have a special event to dress for.  (And for good reason,  the dresses are GORGEOUS.  Stay tuned for my next post on why I am obsessed with the Halston evening wear line.)  Not to be missed, however, is the gorgeous line of luxury items for everyday wear.

The way these luxurious fabrics flow over a woman's shape is something to be experienced.  I'm serious.  Once you try on the different pieces, it is instant love.  I felt amazing!

Tones of thistle, magenta, and port make up the fall line in luxurious fabrics of ultra suede, silk, jersey, and crepe.

Black, ivory, and dark fatigue are the neutral colors that go with any closet.  I am loving this black feather print found throughout the collection.

Enough of what I like, go view the entire collection for yourself here: http://www.halston.com/store/ready-to-wear.html.

I will admit, Halston is an investment piece kind of store for my budget.  However, the fabrics, fit, and timeless pieces would be an amazing addition to any wardrobe.  Especially if you are looking to create the perfect capsule wardrobe with iconic items.

If you are in the neighborhood, stop in and say "Hi" to Larita for me.  Her vast knowledge of the brand and style is amazing and her customer service is top-notch!

**Stay tuned for my next post where I try on almost every evening wear dress in the store!**

In the meantime...watch a slideshow for the Fall 2013 collection that is still relevant in 2015.
I love a brand that features such timeless trends!
